An art trade with the talented ~mikkiala-exploration, who wanted one of my OC's (which I thought was funny, as it makes me look quite egotistical) dressed up for a "night out on the town or a club". I thought, surely I have more respect for my characters then to put them in clubbing clothes? After all, the little devil's mission was to get me to practice clothing, because she's always on my arse to branch out and try new things. x) So, I figured, why not dress classy Vivi up in, well, classy Victorian clothing? I've always admired the Victorian era, for it's style, sophistication, clothing, events, and communication. Being rather fond of their dresses, I thought it would be high time I attempted one with a lovely hat, although I've never drawn so much detail in my life. It was a refreshing practice, one I may adopt to use frequently. At least the curls and buns. :3 Enjoy, and I hope you like it Mikki. Vivian (c) Myself Comments
Wow, I really, really love this picture! It is so amazingly awesome. I have always envied artists who could draw chairs, and the chair that you have drawn is so elaborate and beautiful. The perspective is correct, the coloring is great; I love it. It's very well done.
I love the outfit that you drew - it's creative and shows some history. I also love the Victorian era (well, mostly for the clothing). The colors look great together, and I love the air of sophistication in this picture. The dress flows down to the floor nicely. She is so pretty, and I love this picture very much! And the hat. I cannot get over the hat. -- =^..^= Delete, delete, delete... Right ok. The first thing I must say is a bit peculiar is that she has white skin. I'll start with what I like. I like the shading and the coloring of her had and feather and umbrella. The chair is also very uniform and nice. I like the cushions, they look comfy. Everything blends well and the colors is really well blended and shaded with just colored pencils. Also I like her anatomy, everything seems to be proportionate and even, that's good. Oh I just noticed she doesn't have ears! lol The details done to the frills of the dress are also really nice. Shows focus and dedication.
Now I'm gonna be nit picky because nothing obvious stands up as a little odd besides the white skin. 1. The pearls on her hat on the right side just kinda lazes off and away. I'm assuming its tied down or something 2. Her veil, its a bit of an illusion. Cause as it falls over her brim it seems to be in the foreground but it appears to be behind her arm. That's about it honestly, I don't really have anything else to pick at. Its a great piece of work done with just colored pencils and suck and I'm sure if you had PS or something of that sort this would have been a cool digital art. wow, this is awesome Emily, I'm pretty much speechless at what to say.

I'm very happy to hear I've captured the Victorian charm, and even more so that you like it. ^^ Thanks again! -- Jellicle Mystique, a CATS fansite CATS Costume Commissioning - [link] You already know my reply on gtalk.
She is a cat, so that's why she has no ear and white skin. ^^ Also, as I've said, thank you for the critique on the vail and hat. -- Jellicle Mystique, a CATS fansite CATS Costume Commissioning - [link] |
